There is a multitude of digital file formats out there. When it comes to graphics, most formats fall under two categories; vector based shape files or raster based bitmaps. Vector based files have the advantage of limitless scalability, but most are limited in their complexity. Raster based files have a fixed size that utilizes pixels to describe a graphic image within a matrix.
